A Promise To Myself
It’s lockdowns and stay-cations and heartache.
My family is on the other side of the world, and friends, who were once neighbours, are scattered around the globe unable to return to the place they call home.
It felt strange to bring in a new year with no travel plans, separated from many I love.
My years have been marked by the places I’ve travelled, and my heart has been filled by the people.
Now, I have nowhere to go.
Life stands still.
I paint.
And as I do my saddened spirit begins to soar.
This painting is a study of a different time and a place that for me holds much inspiration. It’s a promise to myself that no matter what 2021 holds, I will find fulfillment.

This is a very lovely picture you have painted Charity. You have a very special talent.
Yes it is a very different time we are living in. I sure get it. Being separated from family
and friends is very difficult.. Just want you to know that you & your family are in
my prayers. Praying for an end to this Covid situation soon.
It is an unusual time. I keep reminding myself that challenging times came turn into a blessing. Thank-you, Betty for your prayers and kind words!
Praying daily for your family.
Thanks so much, Nancy ❤️
What a beautiful painting, Charity. Daily blogging has been fulfilling for me. The research and mega reading time to make it happen has been a great distraction. It helps me feel connected with the outside world too. Praying for you guys.
Thanks mom J. Great job on daily blogging – that’s a huge accomplishment. I’m glad it’s bringing purpose and connection for you ❤️
Lovely. Impressed (again) with your talent!
Thanks, Kat!
So very pretty Charity! Lately I’ve so enjoyed the beauty of the winter sky!
So many colors and such promise!
Praying for strength, health and courage for you and your family!
The winter sky, oh, so beautiful. Brings back memories of Canada. The sky can communicate so much! I’m glad you are finding hope. Thanks for your prayers, Connie!
Such a very encouraging post Charity. I think that of all of your paintings this is by far my favourite!
Thanks mom. What is it you like about this one?
You have turned a difficult time in life into a time of creating beauty.
Thanks mom, I remember all of those days coming home from school and finding you creating in your sewing room. You taught me how to make creativity a priority ❤️
I just read this to Dad and realized that I didn’t answer your question. I am finding fulfillment in working on the photos that I took over the summer.
I’m glad. I love your egret photos!
Charity, I like the leading lines and the warm tones and colour pallet. Also I have always loved windmills. Knowing that my ancestors on my Grandfather’s side trace back to Holland way back in the 1500s is probably a connection too. On top of that, seeing settings in different cultures appeals to me as well. To sum it all up, it is a combination of things.
Wow, thanks for sharing! I can see how you connect with this painting 😉
Thanks for your kind words about me modeling creativity to you, Charity. Creativity comes in so many forms. You are excelling in yours.
❤️
Another beautiful post, Charity. For a while, I was finding fulfillment in photography, but these past weeks we have been in a deep freeze that has not been conducive to going outside so I’ve been holed up in here. This week, the cold is finally breaking and I plan to get the camera out once again.
