I couldn’t pass this window by. I was working on a much more complicated study of a row of historic buildings, but it was this scene that I passed on my way home that came together.
In China, the vast majority of people live in apartment buildings so this window and the plants around it offered such an intimate feel. I was curious about who tended the plants and tenderly place the little aloe in the window.
Very nice Charity. I like your suggestion of detail on the wall and the depth that you have created. It is amazing that you can take a flat piece of paper and make it look 3D.
Thanks, mom:) I’m enjoying learning how to suggest rather than recreate every detail. This was the perfect little scene to practice that on.
Very nice. Do you stay and sketch it in person? Or are you able to do it by memory?
Thanks Cheryl. I did a pencil sketch in person then at home I did this ink drawing. I love working with water-soluble ink, though generally when I’m out I use pencil or pen and wait on the water until I’m home.
For some reason I can’t “like” your post…I have that problem on some other websites… But I like your post! Beautiful drawing. So glad you are sharing them with us!
Thanks so much, Pearl 🙂
