My friends and I headed back to the lake where I hosted my Birthday Field Sketch. I wanted to return to the lotus blossoms. Sketching on site usually lends to loosening up, like in my Subway Portraits, but this scene was so beautiful, I sat on a ledge by the lake for two and a half hours drawing and painting as precisely as I could.
With summer now waning and lotus blossoms now withering, this painting serves as a reminder of a beautiful time: an art-filled summer.
So pretty! Love the color in this one, too!
Thanks, Pearl. It was both fun and intimidating to take watercolours to the field for the first time;)
Beautiful, Charity!

Betty, so great to hear from you. Thanks for your encouragement!
