My dream was to draw every day during our move.
My reality has been catching moments while running errands.
Yesterday turned into much more than a moment, when, while trying to complete my transaction, the computer malfunctioned. I was so thankful I’m in the habit of packing a small sketchbook everywhere I go.
Thinking I would just have a few minutes, I did this quick sketch of the customer beside me. I didn’t take time to perfect it, but was pleased with what I captured.
Thinking my errand was nearly done, I put my sketchbook back into my purse but when the computer started beeping and my purchase couldn’t be completed I pulled it out again. I ended up having much more time than I wanted to complete a study of my Sea Salt And Lemon Water. I’m so glad I grabbed this beverage on my way out of the subway station. I never imagined once I stepped into this building, I wouldn’t resurface for over two hours. I was tired and hungry when I finally left, but at least my thirst was satisfied – for water and for sketching!
Beautiful sketches Charity ā¦ but what a way to get sketching time! The sea salt lemon water sounds interesting.
Thanks and lol š It was my first time to try the drink and it was delicious. A good distraction, too!

Charity, that is a great idea to keep a sketchbook with you all the time. Way to turn waiting into art! Iām enjoying your art/writing journey. Missed seeing you and hope your move is going well!!
Thanks so much, Pearl. I missed seeing you on our writer’s call, too. I’m looking forward to getting settled in our new home and catching up with you and our other blogging friends again;)
This is planning ahead. Well done. The sketch of your neighbour waiting is excellent!
Thanks so much, Kathryn!
I love sketching too. I’m trying to incorporate it into my Bible study. That’s my “sketch daily” hack.
Great hack, Nancy. And I’m glad to learn you love sketching.
