I’m full of ideas of places to draw to capture the scenes around me, but now, with the start of our homeschool year, I’m stuck inside. I know we’ll get into routines and I’ll be able to slip out, at times, but until then I have to be content with drawing from home.
I miss the days when studying science meant taking the kids for a nature walk and hunting for bugs. I love being outdoors. And apartment living, the norm in China, separates me that much more from nature. I try to keep inspiration around my home so that when I get a break from attempting to help my teens with their biology studies, or algebra, I don’t just collapse on the couch.
Flowers are a favourite.
I’m not good at keeping plants alive and I wish I was, not only because they are a pleasure to draw, they also bring life to our apartment. Fortunately my daughter has inherited the Jennings’ green thumb and I had the joy of drawing her plant, in bloom.
It can be so hard to spend so much time inside when all you want to do is be outside. Somebody needs to build a “great outdoors” indoor homeschooling centre 🙂 I’m glad your daughter’s green thumb can be a benefit for you too. Beautiful drawing 🙂
You made me smile, Sylvia. Thanks 🙂
